I’ve talked about how important our game nights are in the Mayhew house. Whether we’re gathered around the Wii or trying to find enough pieces to make the Mousetrap game work….the games nights are together time….time that we laugh and joke and enjoy each other’s company.
REAL enjoyment.
We got the chance to try out some of Hasbro’s new games: Connect4x4 and Pictureka.
When I review things like this, I always like to put in perspective of my kids’ ages. Nathaniel is 11, Rachael is 8 and Peyton is 5. It’s hard finding games that are both challenging AND fun for everyone.
Connect4x4 is one that is PERFECT for multi-age kids…taking the traditional Connect4 and adding a second layer of play. It allows for four players at a time and adds some depth and strategy to the more simplified, traditional Connect4.

Pictureka is the game that inspires the “can we play just ONE MORE TIME” response. If you’ve ever read the I-spy books and played along, you’ll get the fun of this game. It’s a game that sends you searching for various objects of boards of images that can be moved, turned and flipped. It also (and I DO LOVE this) has age-appropriate versions of the games…giving cards with images for younger kids to match, and cards with text for the older ones.

I encourage you to participate in National Game Night…whether it’s going out and getting a new Hasbro game to share with your family or just pulling out a worn deck of cards to play Old Maid…turn off the tv, unplug, and just play.

is this contest open to us Canadians?
Ether way, probably my favourite game of all time is Rumoli.
It was always a rainy day game at my aunt's cabin
As an adult, I love to play Scene It with a group of friends. As a child, Monopoly was always a favorite as well as Sorry and Uno. My boys love Cariboo and I have to say I enjoy it as well!
Pictionary is a favorite here!
Favorite game of all time is Apples to Apples. We can play with anyone from age 6 (younger if they can read!) to adults, and we always have a blast.
I'm not sure if it's by Hasbro…hope that doesn't matter!
Monopoly all the way. My son is 4 and I can't wait till he is old enough to enjoy it.
Mine is LIFE. Not sure why…maybe because it's all so nice and tidy and utterly unrealistic. Love it.
I love, love, love Trivial Pursuit.
My family's favorite (as a group) is Apples to Apples. But . . . my PERSONAL favorite is scrabble!
My husband and I love to play Scrabble. As a family, our current favorite is Yahtzee.
My fave has to be Axis & Allies – I do like Settlers of Cataan, too.
My favorite game is Trivial Pursuit, but no one will play with me because I have a wealth of useless knowledge!
When I lived at home with my brothers and parents, we laugh out loud with scattagories. My husband HATES board games or "bored games" as he calls them…so I would love to get one for free and make him try it out! I play cranium carabu with the little man and it too changes levels with a flip of the cards – great feature!
I love a good game of cards – hearts, spades, gin rummy.
As a kid – Operation. I had a steady hand and could always beat my brother! Now? – Bang
We love playing Disney trivia here at the Bone household.
