Months have gone by.
The door opens to smiles and hugs.
It also opens to surprise and new-found delight.
Hands that move a bit better than they did a while ago.
Feet that show off the hard work done.
A face that’s a little closer to what’s remembered.
The friendships don’t depend on the little transformations.
The celebrating does.
And you celebrate just long enough to see the next batch of changes.
When they come up the next time, they’ll open the door.
There will be something else to celebrate.
