Comments can be fun, because you find out others think like you do. But I don’t think I want to be one of those who gets hundreds of comments, cause, ya know, I’m lazy. I don’t want to have to moderate all the spam out of there lol

I read because you’re awesome. There’s no other way for me to put it. You are just awesome. I don’t blog but I started reading yours, poobou, and Heather Spohr and you three are some of the most awe-inspiring women I’ve ever had the privilege of being let into the lives of.

Keep it my dear. You are just amazing.

    Miss Anissa,
This post right here is why I have been reading your blog and Aiming Low for as long as I have. I’ve noticed you don’t post how many people follow you, and you don’t write like that number is what makes you write. You write (and vlog!) straight from the heart. You are such a genuine person and I just wanted to de-lurk to tell you that I love that. And I am so excited that you have your camera back! Can’t wait to see all the pictures you’re going to take now!!

Amen! This was an excellent post. We should all be writing because we love to write, not hoping for a million responses…unless you’re trying to sell something, which most of us aren’t. I do have a counter on my blog, but I rarely look at the number of people who visit. It’s a flag counter and I find it fascinating to see the all of the different countries represented by blog readers. It’s a reminder for me of how big the world really is!

See, that’s cool and I respect that it doesn’t feel like you obsess over numbers. In my opinion, that’s when all the good leaves.

You are the freaking coolest. You almost have me crying over here! Susan is amazing too. GOoooo, Susan!! You know, thanks for your vlog – it’s totally true. We have to all look at why we are doing this. I saw your tweet. It’s true. It’s also true that we can do something small for someone else and it can impact their life more than we can imagine. Thanks for the reminder of that simple fact. You rock.

i loved this. i agree, write to write, not for comments.
to see the love blogging brings to the world, specifically because of the Susans I hear about, well, that is community. that IS love. i am proud to be part of that world, that cares.

i read to see how you are doing. i don’t know you, but i just care so much, for some reason. and you look and sound amazing! i can’t wait to see what you capture now that you have your camera back!

I hope we don’t have to “know each other” to care! Cause I have weird stalker tendencies then.

        me too :)

        *raises glass*
“to caring and weird stalking tendencies”

  11. Ivy September 12, 2010 at 12:00 AM #

100% agree with you on the reason I write….for ourselves because it’s what we are passionate about and we find joy in doing so. I find it a wonderful outlet for all my thoughts and–quite often–irritations. Not many people comment on my blog but I know I have readers, and as long as I can help another mom feel better, I feel good.

Well said about how we should be writing for us, because it’s the right thing to do. I love that you do it for you…and those of us out here who follow you and so look forward to your posts- your hilarious sense of humor, triumphs, moments of utter happiness- quiet and not so much, and struggles that so many of us can relate to…well, we’re just lucky you do it. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.

    • Anissa Mayhew September 12, 2010 at 11:01 PM #

I do it for me and the way I have been able to see the changes in me over time. I’m really thankful for the readers, but you’re just frosting on a sweet cupcake.

Posted on You know, I had a similar preblom in reverse. I have two boys and the eldest (age 5) is fascinated with cooking, so me and his Mom wanted to get him an Easy Bake Oven for his birthday last February. However, they only came in pink. We knew he wouldn’t care and I really didn’t think it was a preblom, but it still gave me pause. We ended up not getting him one for another reason (all of the mixes are made in factories that have peanut exposures and he’s allergic), but it still kinda bugged me that cooking was considered a girls-only activity.
