i’m not smarter than a 5th grader and my handwriting isn’t better than a 2nd grader

WritingAs I signed Peyton’s agenda, she said, “There’s a boy in my class who thinks your writing is messy.”

OOOOF.

He’s right.

To a 7yo who’s told to work on neatness and staying in the lines it IS messy

This little boy wouldn’t understand what an achievement it is to sign that agenda at all.

He doesn’t understand how hard it is to know I used to find comfort in scribbling words in notebooks.

It doesn’t occur to him that I feel lucky to have the little bit of messy writing I have.

I finished signing her papers and closed her folders.

She looked at me and smiled wisely.

“I love you, mommy.”

He may not know, but she does.

That’s all that matters.

I have been absent for a while, but now I remember why I used to love this blog. Thank you, Iˇll try and check back more frequently. How frequently you update your web site?

That is hard, I’m sure it’s not any consolation that my handwriting looks like some sort of demented spider on drugs.

OMG! What a sweet story, Anissa. Peyton is one wise soul. Now go get tomorrow (like you always do)…
