For us, Fall means cooler days and early nights and everyone coming inside to just be together. Summer is crazy and hot and everyone is running in a million directions and we never see each other. Fall begins our hibernation and we come back together as a family.

My favorite Fall time tradition is to take my boys to the local Pumpkin patch. It doesn’t take much for children to be excited when they see all the sizes, shapes and colors of the many pumpkins…but what is even better is that I see the excitement in them and it allows me to relive my youth through my boys.

Both boy pick their own pumpkin and we head on home to carve them while drinking apple cider and munch on apples and caramel dip. Since I am into scrapbooking I get the pleasure to relive those memories for years to come.

  4. How about FREE TIX to @clairerobinson5 of the @FoodNetwork, live music and crazy @callawaygardens fun! http://t.co/sOmGonJb #CallawayHMF

    I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!

  8. Patty Hays October 3, 2011 at 1:11 PM #

My favorite Fall traditions are about Football and Family. I love going to UGA football games with my brother and cheering on the dawgs!!! I also love Thanksgiving when my stepmother spends weeks planning for, preparing and finally cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I love the whole family coming together to eat and watch football and maybe throw the pigskin around a little. I LOVE the fall weather in Georgia. Cool at night and early morning but the sun keeps it very warm during the day!

My favorite fall tradition is to put away the summer clothes and pull out warm sweaters and boots and get outside to enjoy the fine fall weather. Cooking out, fall festivals and Sunday drives through the country make for great fall adventures! Nothing like the smell of Fall and so excited to get rid of the hot humid “hair ruining” days of Summer!

My favorite fall tradition is loading up the car with family and heading up to Burt’s pumpkin farm. We go on the hayride, sample the pie, and each person gets to go home with exactly the right pumpkin. Can’t wait to have our new daughter-in-law join us this year.

My favorite fall tradition is going to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins for carving. We make it an all-day event, full of quality time, fresh air, and sun.

  18. Shawn Smithwick September 30, 2011 at 8:37 PM #

My family and I are a pack of fall lovers from way back. I posted about a month ago that I would not be leaving my house again until summer was over. The heat this year was awful, and completely unlivable, so we hunkered indoors and waited it out. Our family’s fall tradition is to spend a day at a local pumpkin patch picking the perfect ones, then we spend the evening on the courtyard painting and carving them with a beautiful fire in the firepit. My 3 yr. old daughter and I tell stories about “Brother Sun and Sister Moon” and talk about how beautiful the moon is in the sky.

My favorite fall tradition is my re-emergence back out of doors, after a long summer spent in air-conditioned hibernation, in hiding from the ticks, snakes and chiggers that live in what we jokingly call our yard.
