Invisalign: how did we know our kid was ready

Invisalign question

Lia brought up one of the greatest arguments surrounding Invisalign for teen: IS THE ADDED COST GOING TO BE WORTH IT?

You all probably think that because I’m a part of the Mom’s Advisory Board and Nathaniel got his Invisalign trays complimentary that we opted to get the trays instead of standard braces.

Truth of the matter, we had to decide our son was capable of handling the additional work that Invisalign trays would be before we said yes to anything.

  • We had to make him understand haw much the trays would cost in a language he would understand. Telling him dollars per month didn’t seem to work.  I ended up explaining that they worth four video games EVERY MONTH…that got through!
  • Then we sat down and made three lists: list 1 -> things that rocked about Invisalign trays, list 2 -> things that rocked about traditional braces, list 3 -> things that rock about NOT getting braces at all
  • then we sat down and Googled images of people with crooked teeth (holy cow, that makes you want to go back and hug your orthodontist)

Bedsides the incident of the missed appointment we’re really proud of Nathaniel for how seriously he takes this.

He may be a typical teen boy and clean his room once a century but that boy wears his trays and brushes his teeth.

We’re already seeing the progress and movement and that is it’s own reward!

While I am paid for my time, my opinion is my own and is never for sale.

You Got that?? MY OPINION IS MY OWN.**

I’m a member of the Mom’s Advisory Board, and my son received complimentary Invisalign treatment.

At CafeMom, I’d like to hear about your food feuds.

I think my son, at 17, in his senior year, is MORE than ready. He is LONGING for me to be selected as a member of the Mom’s Advisory Board for Invisalign. Me, too, come to think of it!
