the words i have

There are certain things I had to learn to do to keep writing.

I’ve never been one to be great with imagery. My words were plain and simple. My style is almost stark now.

I have to keep the look very minimalistic because my vision can’t handle too much action.

Instead of telling you how to feel, I’d rather MAKE you feel.

What I can’t express with a turn of phrase or use of pretty words, I have to clarify with style, color or font.

I have to economize.

I’d love to go into great detail but it’s a luxury no longer at my disposal.

Sometimes I know my meaning is getting lost in the words I can’t use.

Sometimes a meaning comes that I didn’t intend.

It has to be enough.

I appreciate tight writing. Your words are more than enough.

You know, I’d never considered that there might be a WHY that your style is somewhat sparse, or Hemingwayesque. I just thought that was your style.

    I use SOOO many words.

    Probably too many words.

Anne says she constantly edits herself down: making her words more clean, more clear.

    There’s a beauty to that, I think. It’s poetry.
