a month of peyton’s smiles

Childhood Cancer Month.

I thought about the many images I could share with you that would break your heart. The moments I snapped on film of a little girl forced to endure a multitude of pains.

But that isn’t what I want to do. For us this is a celebration of completing chemo and radiation. Not all of our friends did. My heart will always ache.

For Peyton I feel joy.

Throughout treatment I was able to feel joy because of the amazing smiles around me.

If they could smile and laugh, how could I do any less?

Peyton, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia CNS positive July 2006 and last treatment November 2008

Yeah, she still makes that smile with her whole face and crinkles up her nose.

I hope she does it forever.

I love her smile – and hope she does it forever too. I remember it beaming out (sometimes) from some heartbreaking situations throughout her treatment – you were always honest in the photos you showed. In some ways it seems 5 minutes ago, but look at how she’s grown. I’m glad the years have been kind to her, I hope they always are. Tell her to keep smiling – she’s absolutely beautiful.
