Our son Nathaniel turns 15 tomorrow.
Sunday at a pre-birthday dinner with grandma Peter and I told the story about the day before my delivery. The nerves, excitement, my sheer enormity, THE NINTENDO my husband took to labor and delivery.
We went on and on, “fifteen years ago today….”, talking about the birth, how much fun we had as new parents.
Thinking Monday was January 23, his birthday.
We are doucheparents! Because Nathaniel had to point out to both of us that Monday was only the 21st.
What was I doing 15 years ago the 21st? I don’t have a freaking clue!
The sad thing is that it isn’t like we didn’t't have clues.
My phone is with me 24/7!
Luckily he’s forgiving. (Although not very smart because the boy could have had TWO birthday dinners at Chilis)
It has been such an amazing time watching him grow into this young man. Some of my blogger friends got the privilege of meeting him this fall and were pretty blown away by the funny and shockingly genuine person he is. He went to his first college today and came home with the idea of being a surgeon. Or a rocket scientist. Or a physicist.
He’ll be awesome at any of them.
If you ever met Nathaniel you know he’ll probably rock at all of them, at the same time.
I’m so proud of the person he’s become, withstanding all he’s been through. I cannot wait to see what his future holds.
Happy birthday, dear son.
