bowling balls the only balls in play

Over winter break I took advantage of my new Groupon addiction at our local bowling alley. I was able to tell the kids to invite a friend to join us, already paid by the fun coupon.

I had suggested Nathaniel invite Luke his best friend but he was already going to be on a trip.

“Can I invite someone else?” he asked.

“Sure.” I answered.

I answered thinking he’d invite another guy pal. I answered thinking it would be someone I knew. I answered having no idea how wrong I could be.

Since when do sophomore boys hang out with senior girls?

She was nice. She was sweet to the girls. She was funny. She was respectful.

I liked her.

*sigh*

It seemed wrong to start telling her how hard this school year has been on Nathaniel, what with the outbreak of genital warts and all.
