I’ve had a tremendous week.

I am lucky to have another special friend (Heather, @DExtraordinaire) here to spend time and deal with all my issues.

During this time she’s been here, the kids have shown off their best moves.

One especially.

Dude.

Two wheels.

Beat that!

You probably heard the news.

Unless you lived in a cave, worked under a rock, or ate bran flakes for dessert (which is just inhumane), you probably heard me going crazy with excitement.

Early in the morning, I was taken aback when I thought I felt the blanket against my foot…my right foot.  That’s the foot that feels nothing.  It hasn’t for months, I’m used to it by now.

Did I feel the blanket?  I wasn’t sure.

So I went to my Speech therapy and I went to my Occupational therapy, I said F-words and pushed books with my weaker arm.

Then finally physical therapy started.  I stretched what needed to be stretched, I walked farther than I had before,  I balanced my body, I directed my limbs.  Then, at the end, I asked,

“Is it possible that I would be feeling so soon?”

B had me close my eyes while she poked at different spots, and I gave her my honest feelings.

She poked.

And poked.

AND POKED.

And I answered.

At the end, B put my clothes all back to normal and straightened everything out.

“Well, I’d say you’ve got sensation, but not localization,” B finally said.

She might as well have said,” You didn’t win the $100 million lottery, only the $90 million lottery.  sorry.”

What she said was: starting to get feeling, can’t tell where yet.

Really.

Cause they lost me at STARTING TO GET FEELING!!!

It’s ok, I screamed a little too.

Just the other night I found an envelope that had never been opened.  I ripped it open, because that’s how I am, and guess what I found.

I was the holder of a Disney Cruise ticket dated back in November 2009.  Just hours after I had my strokes.  I feel lucky that I wasn’t on the cruise yet, although a cruise would be nice. I was going to go on that cruise with other bloggers.  Get the experience without kids to distract me.  Boooyah!!

I think about that time.  All the plans, the hopes, the bright future before me.  I traveled, I partied, I hosted, I loved the life of new people and old friends.

Yeah, I missed it.

How could I not?

I woke up to a life I never expected.  One I couldn’t anticipate or plan around.

This body wasn’t what I was used to.

The mind wasn’t quite up to par.

But one day, it will all work again.  We’ve seen the signs of progress and I refuse to ever give up

It’ll happen.  IT WILL WORK.

There’s no space for me to believe otherwise.

And so far, it. hasn’t let me down.

You would think things more important would fill my mind.  I had rehab therapy yesterday that went incredibly well.  I had a talk with my daughter that she’d been trying to hold in.  Lady Gaga music was on Glee!

Very important stuff here, people.

But it’s compared to the shiny and sparkly all over my new site.
